Multi-Threading: SU Podium uses multi-threading of your CPU so much of the rendering process will use all your processors (Dual/ Quad/ Eight). Although the user does not have to be aware of what technology is being used, it's important to note that you can obtain high quality images with realistic reflection and lighting, quickly. Raytracing and Global Illumination: SU Podium uses a photon mapping algorithm that provides accurate raytracing and global illumination that yields beautiful, photo-realistic images. If you are using SketchUp 8, please use V2 Plus.

V2.5 Plus supports SketchUp 2015 ad 2014 Win/ Mac, 64/ 32 bit. For a summary of V2 Plus features in addition to the new items in V2.5 Plus, please read here. All other SU Podium V2 Plus features are retained. Section Tools has been included in the SketchUp 2015 version. V2.5 Plus has a better Tools, Analyse method, helping you to quickly identify problems. Also, the problems with materials that has names like "h" or "m" are gone. tif files and has much fewer "unknown symbol" messages. V2.5 Plus solves many of the texture mapping distortion in a rendered image such as distorted textures on flipped components. What is processing scenes and why should I care? Please read here.
In larger models, you will notice even more speed gains. V2.5 Plus's major new feature is the result of months of R&D to employ a C++ method of processing scenes which make the overall Podium processing scenes in SketchUp up to ten times faster. SU Podium is intuitive to SketchUp users, easy to grasp for beginners, and the simple interface and versatile presets cut the learning curve to minutes instead of months. SU Podium runs completely inside SketchUp from start to finish, and makes use of the SketchUp features that you're already familiar with to achieve impressive results. SU Podium exists so that anyone can create beautiful, photo-realistic renders from their SketchUp models without the pain and frustration of learning a complex program. His work shows that 3D design and photo-realistic rendering have numerous, creative applications.SU Podium 2.5.002 Plus for SketchUp 2015 MacOSX | 51 MB Using SketchUp and Podium for oil painting studies, as opposed to architectural design concepts and presentations, may not be the most common use of these tools, but for Nomer, they worked quite well. Some textures were applied to Podium’s bump maps. Because Podium supports ray tracing and global illumination, faces that are not exposed to direct sunlight reflect indirect light, making the interior look realistic.Īlso, large openings in the SketchUp model (not visible in the image) in the roof and back wall are used to create ambient light from Podium’s sky light. Podium’s soft shadows are used in this rendering. The main source of light is Podium’s sunlight which is controlled by SketchUp’s shadow settings. A background image is imported into the SketchUp model for the view from the door. The second image shows the rendering that was created by Podium. Some of the components in the scene came from the Google 3D Warehouse as well.
Many of the textures were created by Nomer using a digital camera and shooting typical building scenes from Hanoi. You can see this interior design has a lot of high resolution textures.
The first image shows a model used prior to rendering in SU Podium. The example below is of the winning SU Podium image and how it came to fruition. He found using Google SketchUp and SU Podium, a photo-realistic rendering plug-in, to be good visualization tools for studying viewpoints, texture, and lighting before painting.
